Media Pick Cats 7th in SEC East
For the first time in the history of the Southeastern Conference, there are 14 teams in the league – seven in each division. And for the first time, Kentucky has been picked to finish seventh in the East.
In voting conducted among the record 1,085 (final tally) attending the SEC Football Media Days event in Birmingham, the Wildcats were predicted to finish at the bottom of their division.
LSU was voted runaway winner to take the SEC West, as well as a second consecutive conference championship. The Tigers picked up 129 points in the voting formula to just 65 for Alabama. South Carolina, the defending SEC East winner, was a distant third, with six points, even though Georgia was picked to win the division.

Offensive guard Larry Warford was the only Wildcat represented on the media’s pre-season all-conference team. The senior from Richmond, Ky., was named to the second unit.
