Before Kentucky faces off with Texas A&M in their home opener assistant coach Tony Barber, Tai Wynyard and Derek Willis spoke to the media.
The Kentucky big man talked about playing more in the Ole Miss game, the team bouncing back after the Louisville loss and what he has improved on. Wynyard said he is in much better shape this season. He also talked about why it is so important for Bam Adebayo to have a back up. Wynyard claims Adebayo hasn’t dunked on him in practice like he does to opponents.
Willis said his rebounding and defense is how he felt he could contribute at Ole Miss since he wasn’t shooting well. He also walked us through the missed free throw that allowed Isaiah Briscoe to get a triple double. The Senior also commented on trust and what his coach means when he talks about, Willis said sometimes lack of communication sometimes causes the team to get “discombobulated.” And Willis said he hopes to get out of a recent shooting slump.
John Calipari’s assistant and former player discussed Camp Cal, trust, and potential lineups. Barbee also said they were showing De’Aaron Fox film of Tyler Ulis to help him improve defensively.
