Hamidou Diallo dunking

The Kentucky men’s basketball team visited Picadome Elementary School on Friday. The Wildcats delivered packed lunches to the school as a part of the UK Athletics’ God’s Pantry program. Then they played games with the students.

Tai Wynyard, Jarred Vanderbilt, Hamidou Diallo, Jonny David, Jermal Baker, Kevin Knox and Wenyen Gabriel played “Duck, Duck, Goose”, ran relay races which included skipping & backpedaling and played basketball. Diallo also dunked over the school Principal.

Afterwards Vanderbilt and Gabriel spoke to the media about the experience. Vanderbilt also talked about his recent trip to his hometown Houston with his Coach John Calipari to see the victims of hurricane Harvey.

Information about UK Athletics and God Pantry from UK Athletics 

It’s the eighth consecutive year that UK Athletics has partnered with God’s Pantry of Lexington to help pack and distribute food-filled grocery bags to kids across Fayette County. By the end of the 2017-18 school year, 5,700 lunches will be delivered.

As part of the program, UK Athletics packs 160 bags each week. Each team and staff at UK Athletics participates in the outreach program. The men’s basketball team will deliver lunches to Cassidy, Lansdowne and Picadome elementary schools throughout the day Friday.
