Portland, OR — The World Team defeated Team USA 89-76 in the Nike Hoop Summit.Secondly, the healthy future Wildcat on the rosters, Tyler Herro only played 7:18 minutes in the game. Herro had 2 points on 1-3 shooting, including 0-1 from behind the arc and added a rebound in those minutes. After the game Herro was aware he didn’t get much time on the court “I thought I played pretty well when I was in, but coach didn’t play me much, but I just tried to do whatever I could do to help the team win.”

Coach Mike Jones was asked about the lack of minutes for Herro in the post game press conference, “We treat it like a real game, 40 minute game with 10 players it would be real easy for us to just play everyone 20 minutes, but we were trying to win. That’s not a knock, to say that if anybody plays more minutes we wouldn’t have had a chance to win, but it comes down to just gut feel.”

Herro was asked if he felt like he should have played more. His response was straight forward, “I think so, but it’s all good.”

There were a lot of talented guards on the USA Team and next season at Kentucky Herro will also face a lot of competition. But he is ready for Lexington, “I’m ready to get down there, but I’m going to work everyday, improving my weakness and work hard all summer and be ready.”
