Perhaps the biggest week of the season is here for the Kentucky Wildcats (2-0) as Saturday they’ll host the Florida Gators (2-0) in a critical SEC East showdown.
It will be the first time since 1987 that the Cats enter coming off a win over the Gators as last season they broke their 31 year losing streak to Florida with a 27-16 victory in Gainesville.
A big reason Kentucky was able to take down the Gators in 2018 was the play of quarterback Terry Wilson. Wilson threw for 151 yards and two touchdowns and added 105 yards and a score in the run game. Unfortunately for Kentucky Wilson’s 2019 season came to an abrupt end when he suffered a patellar tendon in his left knee. The Cats will now turn to graduate transfer Sawyer Smith and hope he can lead the team past the Gators for a second straight season.
Monday, head coach Mark Stoops met with the media to discuss Wilson’s injury, his confidence in Smith and previewed the match-up with the Gators.
