In many fans, opposing coaches and media members’ eyes, Nick Richards is a front runner to win the SEC player of the year award.
The junior is averaging 14.6 points per game with 8.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks. As remarkable as these numbers are, it wasn’t enough to crack the list of the ten finalists for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award presented to college basketball’s best center.
Of the 10 finalists, Richards averages more points than two players and more rebounds than Gonzaga’s Filip Petrusev.
Richards reacted to the news with one simple emoji.

While it appears Richards is staying quiet, there can’t be anyone around the Kentucky basketball program happy about him being left off the list.
Richards will look to let his game do the talking and help the Wildcats chase their ninth national championship.
