The No. 12 Kentucky Wildcats (19-5, 9-2) are preparing for their first Saturday game at Rupp Arena since Jan. 11 as the Ole Miss Rebels (13-11, 4-7) are set to come to town.
Saturday will be the only scheduled matchup between the Rebels and Wildcats this season. Last year, the Cats won in Oxford by a final score of 80-76. Overall, Kentucky 10 straight over Ole Miss and have not to the Rebels in Lexington since 1998.
This season, the Rebels started conference play with five straight losses, including a 73-48 beatdown at the hands of the Tennessee Volunteers on Jan. 21. Since then, however, the Rebels have been among the hottest teams in the conference.
The Rebels come to the Bluegrass, having won four of their last five games and have won each of their last three as they’ve beaten South Carolina, Florida and Mississippi State by double-digits. In those three games, guard Breein Tyree is averaging 33.7 points.
As for Kentucky, they take their home floor following two road victories in the Volunteer State with wins over Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Overall the Cats have won three straight and seven of their last game games, putting them in a three-way tie with Auburn and LSU for first place in the SEC.
