The Kentucky Wildcats picked up their third straight victory Saturday with an 11-1 win over the Norfolk State Spartans.

UK wasted no time getting on the board Saturday as Austin Schultz hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first to give the Cats an early 1-0 lead.

Kentucky added onto their lead in the bottom of the second. Zeke Lewis scored Coltyn Kessler with a ground ball and Chase Estep hit an RBI single to score Matt Golda to make it a 3-0 game.

Up 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Kessler increased the Kentucky lead to four with an RBI single to score John Rhodes.

The Cats put the game away in the bottom of the seventh with a seven-run inning. Jaren Shelby and Schutlz both hit one-run singles, TJ Collett hit a two-run double, Rhodes hit a one-run double and both Kessler and Golda hit into run-scoring ground outs as UK took an 11-0 lead

While the offense kept the line moving, UK starting pitcher Mason Hazlewood kept the Spartans in check. The southpaw tossed seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts to earn the victory and lower his season ERA to 1.64.

Norfolk State would add a run off Kentucky reliever Ron Cole in the top of the eighth, but it would be far too little as the Cats closed out a 10-run victory.

Kentucky (8-6) will be back in action Sunday when they play a doubleheader against Oakland University.
