Rhode Island transfer Jacob Toppin is on his way to Lexington. The 6-8 forward announced his commitment to the Kentucky Wildcats on social media Thursday.

Toppin is the younger brother of 2020 National Player of the Year Obi Toppin. The younger Toppin appeared in all 30 games and made three starts as a freshman for Rhode Island last season.

He averaged 5.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game and scored career-high 12 points with eight rebounds against Richmond on Jan. 12.

Since he is not a graduate, Toppin will have to sit out next season unless the NCAA passes the speculated one-time transfer rule or he is able to obtain a waiver. Regardless, Toppin will give UK a tall forward who can also hit shots from long range when he is able to take the court for the Wildcats.
