Former Kentucky quarterback Amani Gilmore will be moving closer to his home state of Louisiana. Gilmore announced on both Instagram and Twitter Wednesday evening that he will be transferring to the University of North Texas.

The announcement comes just six days after the quarterback announced he was entering the transfer portal.

Gilmore arrived in Lexington as a three-star prospect in 2019. He chose the Wildcats over the Tennessee Volunteers. As a true freshman, he appeared in just one game as he took garbage time snaps in UK’s 50-7 victory over UT Martin.

He was stuck behind¬†Terry Wilson,¬†Sawyer Smith¬†and¬†Walker Wood¬†on last year’s depth chart was set to be leapfrogged by¬†Joey Gatewood,¬†Beau Allen, and¬†Nik Scalzo¬†in 2020.

North Texas is an FBS program that is a member of Conference USA. They’re coming off a 4-8 2019 season.

Gilmore is one of five Wildcats to enter the transfer portal since the conclusion of spring football.

Marvin’ B.J.’ Alexander,¬†Drew Schlegel¬†are still undecided while¬†Cavon Butler¬†is committed to¬†Toledo¬†and¬†Davoan Hawkins¬†is committed to¬†Tennessee State.¬†
