Five additional Kentucky Wildcats from Nick Mingione’s 2020 Baseball roster have entered the transfer portal. D1 Baseball’s Transfer Tracker reports shortstop Matt Golda, outfielder Chase Bryan and pitchers Will Gambino, Sam Wibbels and Alex Margot are currently in the portal.

Golda played the most of the group as he played in 13 of 20 games and made 11 starts at shortstop in which he hit .318 with a home run and nine RBI’s.

Gambino also contributed for UK last season as he pitched in six games out of the bullpen in which he posted a 2.08 ERA only allowed one hit and held batters to a .083 average. Bryan, Wibbels and Margot did not appear in any games.

This brings the total of members of Kentucky’s 2020 roster that are currently in the transfer portal to nine. Utility men Breydon Daniel and Justin Olson, along with pitcher Jake Tate and catcher Jared Payne are also in the transfer portal.

That puts the Wildcats at 41 projected players for 2021 when adding the 14 new additions, TJ Collett returning and four undecided seniors. That means six Cats must be cut to meet the 35-man roster limit. Thus, expect more names in the transfer portal and some tough decisions on last year’s seniors.
