Yet another Kentucky Wildcat has entered the transfer portal. Punter and kicker Grant McKinniss is the latest Cat in the portal per a report from Justin Rowland of Cats Illustrated

McKinniss has handled all of UK’s kickoffs the past two seasons. In 2018 he had 66 kickoffs for 4,069 yards and 36 touchbacks and in 2019 kicked off 67 times for 4,134 yards and 48 touchbacks. He averaged 61.7 yards per kick both seasons.

He has not recorded a punt since 2016 when he ranked third among SEC freshman punters, averaging 39.2 yards per punt. In 2017 McKinniss redshirted and then lost the job in 2018 and 2019 eventual Ray Guy Award winner Max Duffy.

Looking for a place to punt, the redshirt senior will have instant eligibility wherever he ends up transferring.

McKinniss joins Marvin’ B.J.’ Alexander, Drew Schlegel, Cavon Butler (Toledo), Davoan Hawkins (Tennessee State) and Amani Gilmore (North Texas) as Kentucky’s 2o20 offseason transfers.
