The Kentucky Wildcats continued their recent recruiting role Saturday as they landed a commitment from 2021 three-star outside linebacker Martez Thrower.

Thrower is a native of Rochelle, Georgia and is a consensus three-star recruit. 247 rates him as the 42nd best outside linebacker in the nation for 2021 and as the 59th ranked recruit from the state of Georgia. He picked Kentucky over a list of finalists that included Arkansas, Nebraska, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State.

In his commitment video, Thrower noted inside linebackers coach Jon Sumrall played a large role in his recruitment. With that, he becomes the third member of UK’s 2021 class, where Sumrall served as the lead recruiter joining wide receivers Chauncey Magwood from Georgia and Christian Lewis from Alabama.

With Thrower’s commitment, Kentucky now has 13 commitments for their 2021 recruiting class thus far. Thrower is the first outside linebacker to join UK’s 2021 class and fourth defensive player joining Joko Willis, Jordan Lovett and Kahlil Saunders.

247 ranks Kentucky’s 2021 class as the 44th best in the nation and 12th in the SEC ahead of only Vanderbilt and Ole Miss as of July 4.
