Former Kentucky Wildcat Tyrese Maxey is officially a pro as he was selected in the first round of Wednesday’s 2020 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 21st overall pick.

Maxey signed with Kentucky as a five-star prospect out of Garland, Texas in the fall of 2018. He joined the Wildcats for the 2019-20 season, where he averaged 14 points per game with 4.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

The shooting guard joins one of the few current NBA teams without a Wildcat. He will be coached by 2008 NBA champion and 2020 NBA Coach of the Year Doc Rivers.

He is the 30th former Wildcat to be selected in the first round of the NBA Draft since John Calipari took over as UK head coach in 2009.
