Just two days after hiring Liam Coen as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Mark Stoops has found his next offensive line coach as UK announced the hiring of Eric Wolford.

Wolford played his college football at Kansas State and spent one year as an offensive guard in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals in 1994.

He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Kansas State in 1995 and since has built a lengthy and impressive resume.

Wolford first served as offensive line coach at South Florida from 1997-99 before going onto take the same position at Houston (2000-02), North Texas (2003), Arizona (2004-06), where he was on the same coaching staff as Stoops who was the defensive coordinator, Illinois (2007-08) and South Carolina (2009).

In 2010, Wolford was given his first and so far only head coaching gig as he was named head coach at Youngstown State. There he compiled a 31-26 record in five seasons.

After leaving Youngstown, Wolford spent two seasons serving as offensive line coach for the San Francisco 49ers (2015-16) before returning to South Carolina, where he spent the last four seasons as Will Muschamp’s offensive line coach.

Now, he reunites with Stoops in Lexington and will take over a UK offensive line that for the last eight years was led by the late John Schlarman, who died of cancer in November.
