The Kentucky Wildcats Baseball 2021 season started with a win as they defeated the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks (3-1) 5-1 at Kentucky Proud Park Tuesday.
UK’s offense showed no signs of opening day rust as in the first inning TJ Collett smacked a two-run home run, Oraj Anu followed with a solo shot and two batters later, Cam Hill also hit a solo homer to give the Cats an early 4-0 lead.
Only three home runs have been hit to CF in Kentucky Proud Park history. T.J. Collett has two of them.

The Cats added onto their lead in the bottom of the third when Hill doubled home catcher Alonzo Rubalcaba to extend the UK lead to 5-0.
While his offense went to work, freshman starter Ryan Hagenow held the Redhawks at bay as he tossed four scoreless innings in which he allowed just one hit, struck out six and did not surrender a walk in his collegiate debut.
The Redhawks would score a run in the top of the fifth but that would be all as UK cruised to an opening day victory to start the season 1-0.
UK will be back in action at Kentucky Proud Park Friday for the start of a weekend series with the University of Milwaukee.
