Kentucky Baseball senior slugger TJ Collett will have a chance to take home one of college baseball’s most prestigious awards. Thursday, the Kentucky first basemen was named to the Bobby Bragan Award watch list.
The Bobby Bragan Award is awarded to the division one offensive player who has the best year at the plate and off the field. It is just the second year that award will be a national honor as before 2019, only players from schools in the state of Texas were considered.
Collett is one of 36 players across the nation to be named to the list and joins LSU’s Daniel Cabrera as the lone representative from the SEC.
In each of the past two seasons, Collett has hit at least 10 home runs with 34 RBI’s. He is batting .200 in his first four games of 2020.
Not only has he performed on the field, but Collett has twice been named to the SEC Community Service Team and in 2020 was inducted into the UK Athletics’ Frank G. Ham Society of Character.
