A pair of Kentucky women’s basketball stars are taking home some of the SEC’s most prestigious awards.
Tuesday, the league announced Kentucky’s Rhyne Howard is the league’s MVP, First Team All-SEC member and First Team All-SEC defense member. Kentucky’s Chasity Patterson is also taking home hardware as he has been named the SEC’s 6th Woman of the Year.
Howard put together one of the greatest seasons’ in Kentucky women’s basketball history. The sophomore averaged 23.3 per game with 6.4 rebounds and 2.3 steals.
Patterson averaged 11.4 points per game off the UK bench with 1.6 assists. She posted a season-high 32 points on Feb. 9 against Arkansas.
Howard and Patterson will look to lead Kentucky to a deep postseason run this March. The team begins the SEC Tournament this Friday at 8:30 p.m. in Greenville, South Carolina, against the winner of Tennessee/Ole Miss/Missouri
