The sixth-ranked Kentucky Wildcats mounted a remarkable 18 to defeat the Florida Gators in Gainesville 71-70 without point guard Ashton Hagans Saturday.

UK trailed 57-39 with 11:55 to go and played the final nine minutes of the game without leading scorer Immanuel Quickley who fouled out with the team down 13 points. The Cats only held the lead in the games’ final 12 seconds when EJ Montgomery scored a game-winning tip-in.

Nick Richards led the comeback for Kentucky as he scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds after shooting 8-18 from the field. Kentucky’s freshman duo of Johnny Juzang and Keion Brooks also stepped up. Juzang scored 12 points and shot 2-4 from the three-point line while Brooks added 10 points and hit a pair of three-pointers.

Despite the victory, UK could not contain Florida’s Scottie Lewis, who they held to just two points with Hagans in the lineup on Feb. 22. Saturday Lewis led the Gators with 19 points. Noah Locke (14) and Keyontae Johnson (12) also scored in double figures for Florida.

With the victory, Kentucky finishes the regular season 25-6 overall with a conference record 15-3. They’ll turn their attention to the SEC Tournament where they’ll play Friday at 1:00 p.m. EST.
