The Kentucky Wildcats offense has taken a significant hit. During his press conference Monday, UK head coach Mark Stoops reported running back Kavosiey Smoke suffered a broken rib during the teams’ 42-41 overtime loss to Ole Miss Saturday.
Stoops said the injury came on a horse-collar tackle and that the running back will be out for multiple weeks.
Smoke ran for 616 yards and six touchdowns as a redshirt freshman last season. Through two games in 2020, he had run for 92 yards and a score while averaging an impressive 7.6 yards per carry.
A.J. Rose and Chris Rodriguez, who both ran for over 100 yards against Ole Miss, will likely see even more touches while redshirt freshman Travis Tisdale and true freshman JuTahn McClain also may see touches out of the backfield with Smoke out.
