In Kyra Elzy’s coaching debut, the No. 11 Kentucky Wildcats Women’s Basketball team tipped off their 2020-21 season with a 86-60 victory over the Murray State Racers.

The win came without national preseason player of the year Rhyne Howard and forward Tatyana Wyatt as UK announced before the game both players were suspended for “not upholding the standards of the program.”

With their star off the floor, defending SEC 6th woman of the year led the way for the Wildcats as Chasity Patterson with 30 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Junior Blair Green dropped 13 points in the win, while true freshman Treasure Hunt finished in double figures with 12 points in her collegiate debut.

Freshman Katelyn Young led the way for Murray State as she dropped 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to record a double-double in her collegiate debut.

Kentucky will be back in action Sunday when they take on the Belmont Bears at Memorial Coliseum.
