The Kentucky Wildcats‘ new-look offensive coaching staff continues to take shape as Thursday the program announced the hiring of Jemal Singleton to be their next running backs coach and special teams coordinator.
Kentucky’s running backs were last coached by offensive coordinator Eddie Gran who was fired following the 2020 regular season finale and replaced by Liam Coen. No coach held the special team’s coordinator position last season after Dean Hood took the head coaching position at Murray State following the 2019 season.
Singleton comes to Lexington after a two-year stint as the Cincinnati Bengals running backs coach, where he coached NFL standout Joe Mixon. Prior to his tenure with the Bengals, he spent running back coach stints with the Indianapolis Colts (2015-17) and the Raiders (2018).
Before his time in the NFL, Singleton served as both running backs coach and special teams coordinator at Arkansas in 2015, running backs coach at Oklahoma State from 2011-14 and held various positions including run game coordinator and running backs coach at his alma mater of Air Force over an 11-year tenure.
